Extreme Couponing....TLC Show

I was in complete AWW last night watching this. Normally I would just skipped over this show, but this week there has been nothing on TV, so I asked hubby to turn this on. I was shocked over the size of these people's stockpiles. I mean I stockpile but nothing like what I saw last night. It could have to do with living in a Condo and not having any room to stockpile like that. When I saw the first couple and the wife's complete addiction to couponing, I really felt sad for her. She was beyond "extreme couponing", she was completely and totally obsessed with coupons and the "high" you get when you score an amazing deal. Her house was overflowing with products. She had enough toilet paper stocked up, to last her and her husband for 4 years. Seriously?? She had a year supply of pasta, but that did not stop her from getting another 250 more boxes at her next shopping trip. What bothered me about this couple or what saddened me, is that she has let couponing control her whole entire life. She admitted to cancelling dinner plans with her husband to go shopping and make sure she doesn't miss out on a deal. Her home is overflowing with products that she has no taken over the one small space in the home that her husband has as a get-away. Her poor husband just shrugged at her obsessive behavior as if it were nothing.

I watched the whole show and I was just in amazement. There are some really hardcore people out there and then there are some really WHACKO's. How I coupon in my life is NOTHING compared to how some people do it. But I am still able to stock up on items we use alot of and I am able to keep our grocery bill at a budget, well below that of a typical family of 4.

Did you watch it? What did you think?

When you start living to coupon and not couponing to live (live comfortably, save a few bucks) is when you cross that line. I would say that the first two people they featured were in the obsessive side of it where they live to coupon and their lives is all about coupons and deals.

I did not watch the show, wish I had. As with anything good, TV, computer, games, there is a line and too much is just too much. I would not cancel plans with my husband, but I do try for 5 years with of a supply of what we use. Because, if my husband lost his job, or something happened, I not only have enough for my family, but enough to help others who didn't plan for something to happen
