Every year a couple days before Christmas, our family spends an entire day baking cookies. We make about 24 dozen cookies of every different variety you could imagine and they are all made from scratch! The kids LOVE decorating the cookies in their favorite holiday colors and decorations! We then spread the love and share them with neighbors, teachers, and family!!

We start off our Christmas season every year with the very first Christmas movie of the year on Thanksgiving night! After dinner is done and cleaned up, we all head into the Family Room and snuggle with jammied kids on the couch. The kids get to pick the movie (last year it was Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas Special, the year before it was The Grinch w/Jim Carrey). We all look forward to seeing what they pick each year! The only rule is that it can't be the same one as last year!

We have a special formal dinner 3 days before Christmas on our nice china with traditional family favorite foods. At the end of the dinner, my mother gives each child a wrapped box with an ornament in it. The ornament represents something about us from the last year such as a soccer ball if we were into soccer or a house ornament if we just moved to a new house etc. Each ornament is specific and meaningful to that child. Then my mom puts our name on the bottom and the year and we hang it on the Christmas tree. We did this for years and years growing up and when each child married, my mother boxed up all the child's ornaments and gave it to them to put on their own family tree. We all now do it with our own children to keep the tradition alive.
